3M Corp gives Tuskegee $1M
Tuskegee University, yesterday, received a $1 million check from the 3M Corporation to help complete its new $13M College of Business and Information Science Building. The new building 45,000-square-foot facility will be named for former Federal Reserve Board Governor Andrew F. Brimmer.
Large grants from 3M to Tuskegee University are not new. Through the years, the Minnesota-based company has given the school more than $3 million.
Tuskegee President Benjamin F. Payton said the university still needs $3.5 million to finish the project, but expressed confidence the money will be found soon.
"Our policy is when we get at least 50 percent of the funds we need, then the trustees can or may authorize construction to begin."
The new building will have classrooms, laboratories and an auditorium. Tuskegee has 434 business students.
